Summary: This is a well maintained trail that goes through various types of forests, and along a senic ridge. There is a short side trail down to some waterfalls, this side trail is well maintained with hand rails and switchbacked steps. At the visitor center you can pick up a trail guide that lists various nature stops along the way. Trailhead: The trail starts at the PEEC main lodge. You can pick up an informative trail guide inside for a nominal donation. To get to the PEEC turn west at the sign off of Rt 209, north of Marshals Creek and just south of Dingman's Ferry. I went into the PEEC office before I started and there is no charge...only .50 if you want a trail guide. Steep stairs down to the falls so if you have bad knees forget about it. Did see a snake (all black..not sure if that was poisonous) but no bears. I tend to breath heavy and scare them away. LOL I didnt go but for the PEEC it costs money to get in, I believe 5$ if you are not a member. This is something to take into consideration as all state parks have seem to be imposing fees on people who just wish to go on a hike.. this is rediculous This is a great easy hike I do once in a while. Once you go down the steps to the waterfall(s) area, there is plenty more to explore around there. Great relaxing hike to do with the lady or dog. This was a great hike. The waterfall is just amazing. I would not call this easy however. The steps down to the falls, as well as many parts of the trail are very steep. Well worth the effort though!
