Summary: The walk in is very easy. It looks like an old service road.An impressive falls at an estimated 40 feet tall and 100 feet wide. Lampson is a shallow and broad-faced falls, which can have huge amounts of water flowing over it during peak melt season in the spring. During the summer it calms and becomes a much quieter setting. At the bottom of the falls a small beach has formed allowing for swimming and picnicking. The 15 minute walk into this area is well worth it.
Trailhead: The access for Lampson Falls is the Grasse River Recreation Area on Route 27 in Clare, just north of Degrasse. Look for the brown and yellow DEC sign at a gated road. Park on the road side and head down the dirt road. (Lat:44.40582 Lon:-75.06617)

This was a nice place to camp, I have camped here a couple times with school and on my own as well as going on numerous hikes during scouts and with my family, being a local to the county. In the winter it is really nice, and wood for fires is plentiful

My wife and I visited just last week. The trail is wide and level and a nice easy half mile to the falls and even handicap accessable. Take mosquito repellant and a swimsuit. Great area that looks like it might get a little use as a party sopt by the locals.

I've visited more than 20 waterfalls this summer in N.Y. state and this is one of my favorites.

The view for the bottom is great but try taking the trail the runs down the side of the falls.
