Summary: I could not ask for a more perfect day. The temps on the summits were cool. Felt like an early fall day. I started out by taking the Devils path to the Summit of Indian Head Mt, 3573ft. Just before the summit I was rewarded with views of Kaaterskill Roundtop, Plattekill, and overlook Mtns, Platte Clove and the Devils Kitchen. A popular area for Ice Climbers. There were a few tough climbs to the summit of Indian Head but once on top I was able to soak in the aroma of the Balsam and Spruce covered summit. From the summit I descended to Jimmy Dolan Notch. From the notch I continue to the false summit of Twin were I was able to get some of the best views. You could see the Southern Catskills High Peaks, like Slide Mt. to the east you could also see the Hudson River and to the west Sugar loaf Mt and the rest of the Devils path. Then I continued to the true summit of Twin. From there I returned back to Jimmy Dolan Notch and took Jimmy Dolan Notch back to the Pa

Just Awesome. Entered at Platte Clove Rd (I was able to drive up the mountain and the driving directions on this site were perfect, thanks). Hiked LP/DP/JD - ended up at Predeger Rd but returned and finished at Platte Clove Rd via DP/LP. The trail was wrecked, 25% of the time, I walked around, over or under felled trees. I love a good challenge and the felled trees, heavy rain, mud and "pea soup" fog made for a very challenging journey. Adversity is absolutely awesome. I recommend this trail set to anyone but be prepared for everything, especially at this time of year. Onward!

Didn't do the hike but Platte Clove rd is open, the town just didn't take the signs down when it was closed, I was there 11/12/08

(had to rate it but I didn't do it....) NOTE - as of 5/18/08 Platte Clove road is closed from the east, so the directions won't get u 2 the trailhead. We parked & walked up PC road, which had some nice views along the way, along with freshly dumped appliances and all kinds of trashed tossed into the W. Saugerties water supply's watershed....The hike was about 45 min. to where the road opened, and would have been another 15-20 min., I guess, to Prediger Road, but we decided to hike to Huckleberry Point instead (where we met an ATV & a couple goin at it 20' from the trail) The road closure was posted by the town of Hunter, NY maybe they can provide updates. It also looks possible to loop around and get to the trailhead from the W.

Unbelievably great hike... The views are really great and as an added fact, the peace and silence was a gift to people who love it....Me and my friend covered it in 7 hrs with a nice long snack break at a spectacular view point. should do it another time. The boulders give a near rock climbing experience. Have a safe hike and best of luck for the fellow hikers.

Perfect! Left Platte Clove pullout on the CCCD trail at 8:15 this past Saturday. Warmed up on the leaf littered trail. View after view, scramble after scramble loved every step! . Hit the second peak of Twin Mtn and was soooo tempted to go for Sugarloaf (especially for Green Eyed Lady) but had to be back in Jersey by 4:30 - bummer! Got back to the JD trail junction but couldn't resist the views on Indian so we headed back up. Watched beautful raptors soar at Sherman's. Took the Devil's trail toward to the Prediger Rd. parking area to see the natural rock bridge. The Devil's Path is amazing! Bridge is not what I thought it would be. Back to the car by 12:15. Amazing! Go man go!

This is one of my favorite hikes in the Catskills. In fact I was about halfway through adding it to localhikes.com after doing it this last weekend and decided to check and saw it was already there. We did a slight variation of this hike and instead of diverting to Twin Mtn, we stayed on the DP then hopped on the Overlook Trail to one of the nice views there, then spent the night not far from the lean-to.

We parked a car at Roaring Kill and then started at Prediger. We hiked Indian Head, Twin & Sugarloaf along the Devil's path and then headed back to the first car via the Mink Hollow trail. It was tough, but worth the 7.5 hours. The views from Indian Head are among the best I have ever seen. Twin & Sugarloaf are noble companions to IH. (Please be careful descending Twin!)

Started on DP off Prediger Road, started off with poles and boots. As DP rose, switched to crampons and a single axe for climbing, enjoyed the variety of climbs and use of equipment. Some challenging climbs to summit due to ice and true ridge walks (dangerous if ice present) and beautiful views. In by 8, out by noon. Good workout...will be back to this one.
