Summary: Mount Conness is located on the north east border of Yosemite National Park at an elevation of 12,590'. There are at least two class 3 routes to the summit. The route I took is a 8+ mile round trip, off-trail, hike leaving from the Saddlebag Lake area and going past Alpine Lake. There is a use trail that goes about a mile or so past the Carnegie Institute building. If there is a use trail completely to the summit, I couldn't follow it. I took the best route up an endless field of bolders, up to the shores of Alpine Lake. From there, head around the northeastern shore and up more boulders until you reach a small grass field. Continue the climb upwards until you reach the plateau. This is as far as I got on this trip, but the summit is another few hundred exposed feet up from here.
