Summary: The terrain is much like one would expect in southern Alabama. There are lots of pine trees and lots of swamps and or ponds. If you plain to camp over night be prepared to be serenade to sleep be the millions of frogs. There is lots of interesting wild life. Beware of snakes. The trails are in great shape and the terrain is pretty easy. The Blue Spring was a disappointment. It seems to be a local hang out. There was lots of trash. Part of the south loop near the spring was under water and the bridges were washed away due to recent rain fall. Trailhead: To get to the parking spot for the north loop you should go south off of Hwy 29 onto Hwy 137. This is between Brewton and Andalusia, Alabama. The best parking area is at the Open Pond Camping Recreation Area. There are signs off of Hwy 137 directing you to this area.
