Summary: Ascend small low ridge, Descend to trail jct. turn Right here to stream, rock hop across. walk straight through large camping area to rear, trail is on a small bank (3-4 Ft.) climb and turn Left. This is the description you want to follow, NC Trails guidebook is out of date. Trail has several water crossings all easy, passes numerous small falls and cascades, Wild Flowers are numerous in spring.

At 0.8 Mi. trail starts a constant up-hill through 11 switchbacks, with some fairly steep spots. Views here are of the surrounding ridges, mostly for the exercise. Reach the top after about 1 Mi. backtrack to car. Two trails turn L.& R. here these are not suggested. A word of Caution! The wildlife here are numerous Black Bears, they raid the campground frequently. Do Not take your dog, and make some sound as you are walking.

Trailhead: From Asheville take I-40 East, to exits 72 & 73 at Old Fort. Go 0.2 Mi. into town, turn Right on US-70, and go 1 MI. to Jct. of Curtis Creek Rd (SR-1227). This becomes FR-482, after 5.1 Mi. from US-70 reach the campground. Go to second camping clearing, park on left, trail begins at lower end of clearing (signed). (Lat:35.6902 Lon:-82.19678)
