Summary: Quickly ascend thru rocky boulder caves to the ridge of Gorham mountain. You will find great views of steep glacial mountains and sweeping views of the ocean. As you descend you will see the famous 'bee hive', a conical shaped mountain that really looks like a bee hive. You can also see the lovely sand beach.

On the way back you follow the ocean. Very lovely.

An excellent hike all around and not too hard for the entire family.

Trailhead: Take Acadia National Park loop, pay fee at gate. Take first right after Thunder Hole into parking area for Gorham Mountain hike.

The hike offers some of the best views from Acadia. Unfortunately its also one of the most popular hikes on the Island. I would suggest coming here in the offseason or the beginning or end of the peak season. We mix this hike with 'The Bowl' and the 'Beehive' to get a nice dayhike. Starting the hike at the trailhead before sand beach has you descending towards Thunderhole. The views here are incredible. As you descend you can go through 'Cathedral Woods'. I have done this hike with my then 3 year old on my back so its not that hard.
