Summary: This is a small part of the Foothills Trail in SC. For a TPO of the whole thing, check out "http://www.travelbygps.com/premium/foothills/foothills2.php".

This hike is pretty isolated, and hence not crowded at all. It's a wonderful wooded hike, but does afford a handful of scenic overlooks. The turn-around point has a cliffside-view of Table Rock, and if you carefully work your way down the slope a bit, you'll find lots of indian hieroglyphics. They look like a mix of circles all over the place, just so you know what you're looking for.

The trail in the fall is fantastic, but the steps sometimes get all covered with leaves and make footing tricky.

Trailhead: From Greenville, SC

Exit I-85 at Exit 40 and angle over to Pickens and U.S. 178. Travel north on 178 for nearly 16 miles until the hamlet of Rocky Bottoms (which most prominently had signs for a camp for the blind). Turn right (northeast) on Road 199 and drive nearly 5 miles to a locked gate near the summit. (Lat:35.06512 Lon:-82.77749)
