Summary: All trails are marked with dayglo tape. 75' from parking area is a connector trail to the Caney Fork River Trail, the Joe Hollway Rock House is on this trail. The trail is an old logging trail and follows the Caney Fork River. You will connect to the Polly Branch Falls Trail with views of Upper Polly Branch Falls. You will then connect to the Yellow Bluff Trail with side trails to Honey Pond, Boar Hog Gap Overlook and Yellow Bluff Overlook. From here continue on to end the loop hike to Scott's Gulf Road. Great year round hike but spring is a great time for wildflower lovers during peak season of mid-April there are over 50 varieties for viewing. Trailhead: From Knoxville: I-40 Wwst.Crossville exit, Go south on Highway 127 to the junction with Highway 70 (first red-light past McDonald’s). Go west on Highway 70 approximately 14 miles to Derossett. Turn left (south) onto Eastland Road at the Bondecroft Headstart Village. A second major BFCW trailhead is located about 2 miles further down the Scott’s Gulf Road from the Polly Branch Falls Trailhead and close to where the road begins its descent into the Caney Fork River Gorge. This trailhead is the Yellow Bluff Trailhead. It has an improved, graveled parking lot. *****Scott's Gulf***** 11/03 (Lat:35.84463 Lon:-85.2655) Trail Guides for Yellow Bluff/Polly Branch Loop: Scotts Gulf by Howard Baker (Hardcover) Best Seasons: Year-Round User Groups: Hikers, Ranger Contact: James Douglas Localhikes Reporter: This hike was submitted by Bobby Trotter, who has posted 74 other hikes on this site Trail Reviews Submit your own review As shown (in map provided), this hike was hard to follow at the end (assuming you began going northeast). The final right (northeast) turn off the Caney Fork River Trail is not marked, and the trail you need to take is very faint. How to know you are there: (1) there is a big sign on the left referring to some things ahead, including the Big Springs campsite, but there is no mention of the Yellow Bluff trail or trailhead, (2) you will have hiked 3.6 miles from the previous large sign, which said that the Yellow Bluff trail is 3.6 miles away, (3) the faint trail leads up and to the right, and it has green markers. Following the green trail to the end takes you to the road you came in on, so turn right and walk .7 miles to the trailhead. A very nice Springtime hike for flowers or anytime during the year for enjoyment and exercise. Several waterfalls on Polly Branch Falls Trail makes it well worthwhile. If time permits, a visit to Copper Cascades on the Caney Fork River Trail is worthwhile also. The views from the overlooks are awesome on the YTellow Bluff Trail.
