Summary: Terrain starts steep with an ascent of the eyebrow from either the right or the left side. The first mile rises about 1000 feel. After reaching the top of the eyebrow you follow a steady standard New England rocky rise until you get to the summit run. The summit is wooded but the state has cleared some trees and built a tower for better views. Old Speck is Maines 3rd largest mountain at 4180 feet. Trailhead: Take Route 26 from Newry toward Upton. Trail head is clearly marked on left side of road several miles after Screw Auger Falls.
