Summary: For anyone camping at the Summit Forest campground, this is a pleasant hike through a Douglas Fir and Aspen forest. For anyone coming just for the hike, it should be noted that to the local people this canyon has always been called Powerhouse canyon. The well traveled multi-use trail makes a moderately steady climb to a pass with an excellent view of South canyon and the Oxford Mountain range across the valley. This hike can also be made into a much longer loop hike by following the trail down South Canyon and crossing back at the bottom into Mill Canyon, but this makes the return trip up Mill canyon on a much traveled gravel road. There is a good stream of water at the parking area but this hike is dry most of the year. Trailhead: Exit I-15 at exit 23, then north 3 miles to Summit road. West past Summit Forest campground to end of road. (Rocky, hi clearance suggested.)
