Summary: The first 1.5 miles or so is VERY easy passing Champney Falls. The last next mile consists of steeper and steeper sections until you reach a series of switch backs. After that you ascend the 'col' where you have an easy 1/2 mile walk to the exposed summit. It was about 20 below the day we went. Trailhead: Champney falls parking lot about 11 miles on the Kanc from the Saco Ranger Station. Exceptional 360 degree views. 2.5 hours to the summit via Champney Falls This was a really fun little hike. A great day hike - not too difficult and the falls are very pretty. We did an extended hike as an overnight backpack trip and camped out just off the trail on the trail down along the river. Its a great all season mountain and the view at the top is really beautiful. Great hike! The falls are really impressive. One of the best I have seen while hiking. The views from the top of Chocorua are difficult to improve. It is an bald mountain from where you can have a 360 degree view into the white mountains and the Lakes Region. Notice: Traveling in the backcountry can be hazardous.
