Hiked this recently with my almost 3yr old daughter in Tow. Went only a little bit beyond turnback intersection, because of the little one, but we had tremendous fun. Highly recommended.

Loved it exvept wanted a quiet weekday hike and instead there was an junior high class clogging the trail. Hike was great exercise and view was excellent.

Nice hike, well marked trail, on a Saturday afternoon there were lots of hikers, felt safe alone, great view from King's Pinnacle, last 15 min to top steep but not too bad, overall took 1.5 hours

I would be extermely careful at the top. There are numerous deaths each year from people falling. I have witnessed one event and it is quite scary. STAY ON TEH TRAIL AT THE TOP.

My wife and I hiked this trail in 95 degree weather. It is very tough for the top 1/2 of the trail. The views are worth the climb. We saw 3 hawks floating in the updrafts. Be careful coming down, the turnback trail is easier going for those of us who have not hiked in awhile.

Last 1/3 is as advertised; it's a strenuous climb. First part is not difficult and very pretty. You have to climb over some boulders to gain the ridge of King's Pinnacle, but the view offers one of the best payoffs you'll find. You basically have a 360-degree view that is for all intents and purposes unobstructed. Can see Charlotte easily, the Sounth Mountains near Morganton very easily and on a clear day the Blue Ridge.

Great fall hike as challenging as you want to make it. DON'T USE THE MAPQUEST LINK AS A GUIDE. It shows a South Carolina location East and South of the actual state park.

As a beginner hiker the trail was very strenuous hike, but the scenery is worth it. You get a great view of the surrounding area as well as up close to wildlife at the top of King's Pinnacle. Best time to go would be during the spring or autumn. The trails are well marked and maintained. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a great exercise.
