Ladder Trail - Dorr Mtn

Summary: This is an amazing trail with hundreds of stone steps leading up to the Dorr mountain segment. In a few sections, there are metal stairs to take you over some big boulders. You will love the views of the ocean, lakes, lovely pink granite rocks, and dense forest. This is a strenuous hike, with some minor exposure.

From the trailhead, take a short section of trail about .2 miles, the bear right on the Tarn trail that parallels the Tarn to the Ladder trail Take the Ladder trail to another trail junction and follow the signs to the summit of Dorr mountain. Return the way you came until you come to the Emery path and go left along the path until you come to the Kurt Diederich Climb. Bear right and follow it down to The Tarn. At the bottom go on The Tarn trail and follow it back to the car.


Trailhead: From Bar Harbor, travel about two and a hlaf miles south on route 3. About two-tenths of a mlle past The Tarn (a small body of water on right side of the road), pull off to the right side of the road at the Canyon Brook Trailhead. (Lat:44.34805 Lon:-68.20233)
