Tecumseh

Highlights:

One of the easier NH 4k Mountains.
Near:Waterville Valley, NH
Scenery:
Distance:6 miles round trip
Elevation Gain:2500 ft
Hike Time:4 hours
Difficulty:Moderate
Trail Condition:OK, but a few difficult spots
HikeType:Out and Back

Summary: In and out hike thought the Tecumseh trail that traverses through a couple of brooks and fairly dense forest. At the top you can get a nice view of the Waterville valley and have lunch. No intersections along the way, so it should be fairly easy to climb up and down. (I marked the trail blue on the displayed map).

If you plan this hike as part of a weekend I recommend you camp in any of the White Mountain Forest campgrounds around Tripoli Rd (Fee Area) and enjoy one of the other published hikes the next day. Osceola or the Tripyramids (depending on your condition) may be appropriate.

Trailhead: Take I-93 until Tripoli Rd. 5.25 miles into tripoli Rd you will find the parking lot at the right. This is a Parking Fee area that charges $3 (cash) for day use (or yearly parking permit). (Lat:43.99263 Lon:-71.57953)

August 18, 2007 - We hiked this mountain for the first time. (we consists of 2 adults, an 8yr old, a 6yr old and a 19 month old backpacker) We came into high winds, heavy rain at times and we all still loved it!! We would recommend this mountain to anyone who loves to hike like we do.
