Near:Warren, NH

Distance:7 miles round trip
Elevation Gain:2475 ft
Hike Time:4.5 hours
Difficulty:Moderate
Trail Condition:OK, but a few difficult spots
HikeType:Loop

Summary: Park away from the bus turning loop. Walk north into the bus turning look, and through the sign that shows to the trails. Soon you will turn left towards the George Brook Trail. Be aware of all trail signs, as the trail junctions have great signs, but the trail itself doesn’t show too many blazes or markings at all. You will go almost parallel to the George Brook for about half your way to the top, and before it becomes slightly steeper and dryer.

At the top, enjoy the views, and the interesting foundations of what used to be a hotel. Take the Carriage Road down (from the top it will be part of the Appalachian Trail for around 3/4 of a mile). Shortly after the 3/4 of a mile from the top, there will be a junction on which you will turn left.

The Carriage Road (a trail that was once the road to reach the hotel at the mountain), will take you to another intersection with the Snapper Ski Trail. Turn left there and this will bring you back to the George Brook T

Trailhead: From Boston, take I-93 North.

After about two hours, get off at Exit 32 in New Hampshire, and turn RIGHT onto Route 112 West.

After 3 miles (passing through the town of North Woodstock), turn LEFT on Route 118 West (easy to miss — if you pass the Beaver Brook parking lot, you’ve gone too far!).

After 7.2 miles (winding uphill), turn RIGHT onto Ravine Road.

Drive all the way to the end of the road (stay to the right at the access road turn-off) and reverse direction in the turn-around. Drive back down and find a parking space on the right side of the road (the western downhill side, closest to the Lodge and Mount Moosilauke). Make sure there’s room for busses to pass. Do not park in the turn-around!

Total driving time from Boston, approximately 2.5 hours. (Lat:43.99324 Lon:-71.81547)

Would hike this mountain again, it had different terrain as you climb. The fist time we hiked it was a hot day but the temp. was perfect on the mountain. The second hike it rained but it was still a great hike. The hike was not hard and was a comfortable climb.
