I did this hike with my family last weekend and highly recommend this trail. My four years old had to made numerous rest but my ten years old had no trouble. The trail is very scenic all the way, with some rocky and fairly steep climb but not strenuous for anyone in good physical condition. Once you reach Lonesome Lake, you are well rewarded with a fantastic view of the whole Franconia Notch region and a refreshing swim at the lake from the swimming platform at the base of the AMC hut. Pack some food along and you can have a nice picnic there to fill you up for the hike down.
