Summary: You must first climb fairly steeply up the wall to get to Lonesome Lake. Then the trail is very easy until you reach the AMC hut and beyond. Eventually however it gets steep with many boulders. I did not particularly enjoy this hike. I found the terrain rugged and without a lot of peak satisfaction. Trailhead: Lafayette Place in Franconia Notch just north of Lincoln. You can park in either parking lot on either side of the highway. There is a tunnel under the highway. The AMC hut is open year round and reservations are required for the night. It makes for a good stop on the way up and back.
