Summary: The hike begins at the Runestone Loop Kiosk to the right of the gift shop. Follow the path about 0.03 miles to a junction. Turn left and proceed town the stairs. At 0.10 miles you will enter the building containing the RuneStone. When finished reading about the runestone, continue on the trail, up the stairs and across the bridge to return to the trailhead kiosk by the giftshop. Trailhead: 2.5 miles N on Hwy 59 at Hwy 270 junction. From Old Pike Road (East First street) proceed to the intersection of East First street and County Highway E 1460. Go east on County Highway E 1460 through the park entrance and up the hill to the park Headquarters. Reviewed by MLG on 12/31/2008 Their directions didn't work for me. On Hwy 59 just North of town there are signs to Runestone State Park, follow the signs to the Park. It is off Old Pike Road on Runestone. I went in the winter and I think it would prettier in the spring. Notice: Traveling in the backcountry can be hazardous.
