Near:Ketchum, ID
Scenery:
Distance:2.8 miles round trip
Elevation Gain:424 ft
Hike Time:1.5 hours
Difficulty:Moderate
Trail Condition:Well maintained trail
HikeType:Out and Back

Summary: A nice hike with a gradual incline through rich forests and lush meadows to a beautiful lake nestled in a meadow at the base of towering mountains. An excellent day hike for most everyone and an excellent overnight hike for youth. Sharp eyes may see many types of wildlife, including deer, elk and sheep.
Trailhead: The trailhead is easily located by following Idaho highway 15 miles south of Stanley. Fourth of July Creek crosses the highway near the well marked access road. The trailhead is about 15 miles up this graveled road. The road is sometimes rough later in the fall but is suitable for a sedan. The trailhead is located at the end of the road, is spacious enough for several vehicles, loading ramps and a nice toilet facility. The only water is the near-by creek, and should be filtered before drinking. (Lat:44.02633 Lon:-114.03793)
