Summary: The terrain is very swampy. Much of the trail is ankle deep in water or more. Some of the trail through the swamps has 2x12 boards to walk on. There are long stretches through pine thickets. There are several streams and lots of wild life. Be ware of rattle snakes in the warms months. I was fortunant enough to see a black bear while hiking the first day. Mosquitos are tough as you would probably imagine, so be prepared. All in all, it was an interesting area to hike and I will probably return and hike this area again, but only in the cooler months. Trailhead: The spot that is recommended for parking is at Camel Lake Campground. If you travel south on Hwy 12 from Bristol, FL you will see the sign on the left. It is a dirt road marked FR 105. The area was closed for improvements when I was there but I was able to find a parking place about three miles down FR 105.
