Delaware Canal - New Hope to Washington Crossing

Summary: This section of the Delaware Canal is much like the entirety of the towpath in that it has a smooth and even surface of crushed red stone. The highlight is Washington Crossing Historic Park which is broken into two sections. The Northern section has picnic pavilions on the river side and a monument to unknown soldiers who died of exposure while Washington's Army camped before Christmas of 1776.This also has the Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve. The Southern section of the park containes the site where the crossing actually took place as well as picnic pavillions.

Crossing here, riding the D&R Canal North to Lambertville and back to the Parking lot is a 15 mile loop

Trailhead: The New Hope parking lot is at a restaurant where Rt. 232 intersects with Rt. 32. (Lat: N40 21.424 Lon: W74 56.898)

Parking at Washington Crossing Historic Park is available just before Route 532 enters the town of Washington's Crossing.
