Summary: Either direction this an awesome trek. The only way to appreciate the numerous washes , gorges, rivers and mountains is to set foot on this trail from start to finish. This is no walk in the woods and planning should be taken seriously. There are numerous bail out points making it accessible in case of emergencies. I made this trip in five nights and six days. I would recommend taking more time as there are numerous side trips worth the time and effort. Rest assured you will be worn out and blisters are a real threat even with good footwear. This trip will test your backpacking skills and it is worth every minute of it. Good luck and let me know what you think of the trail.**THE TRAIL DISTANCE IS WRONG AND THE PROFILE IS FOR ONLY THE FIRST DAY, THIS IS WEBSITE ONLY ALLOWS FOR DAY HIKES BUT I DID THIS AS ONE TRIP. THE MILAGE IS 76 MILES AND THE TIME IS 6 DAYS, THE OTHER INFO IS CORRECT, SORRY FOR THE INCONSISTENCIES. Trailhead: We started at Oconee State Park and worked East, You can start at either end but I feel the hike is a little easier in this direction. To reach Table Rock State park from Greenville SC, take hwy 276 north to hwy 11. Stay on 11 to the second enterance on the right. park at the lake area and the trailhead is across the road at the nature center. From Oconee State Park, continue on Hwy 11 through Walhalla and turn right on main street. Continue north following the signs to the park and park at the trailhead parking lot (Lat:34.51 Lon:-83.05) Trail Guides for Foothills Trail Thru-hike: Guide to the Foothills Trail by FHT Trail conference (The Foothills Trail conference) Best Seasons: Fall, Spring, Summer, User Groups: Hikers, Ranger Contact: Table Rock Stste park 864-878-9813 Localhikes Reporter: This hike was submitted by Shaun Mitchell, who has posted 17 other hikes on this site Trail Reviews Submit your own review My wife and I hiked the whole Foothills trail (76 miles) from North to South April of 07. It was an awesome trip... very remote, you don't see many people out during the week. We had a great time... check out our website we created about our trip. http://www.thefoothillstrail.com/ Notice: Traveling in the backcountry can be hazardous.
