It then follows an old path down into a lovely broad field and eventually reaches Great Bay. There you will find an observation platform for view the bay. The road is well maintained. It can be slightly muddy after a rain. Bikes are not allowed. Trailhead: From Route 16 aka Spaulding Turnpike in Portsmouth get off at the Pease AFB exit. Enter the old air base and bear right to reach to reach Arboretum Drive following the brown signs to the Great Bay National Refuge. It is about 3 miles or so from the entrance.
