Summary: This is a good easy leg stretcher near the old swimming area and park lake. Start at the picnic area and follow the trail around the point between Norwood and Hicks Creeks. You can also walk out to the dam that controls the water level of the park lake. This isn't a real exciting and challenging hike, but a good one for young kids who need an easy introduction to hiking. Trailhead: From I-77 just south of Statesville, take exit 42 onto US-21 north. In Troutman, turn left on Wagner Street, then turn right on State Park Road. After you enter the park, cross the first bridge and look for the parking area on the left. The trailhead is located at the southern end of this parking area near the picnic tables.
