We hiked this over the holiday weekend and were very surprised. It is beautiful and well maintained. It was not as crowded as we had expected. We all enjoyed walking across the rocks in teh water and feeling apart of the past. The canal trail is a great way to follow up on your child's elementary school education. (my son learned about them in school and thought it was really neat to see it up close) The spider lilies were really awesome. We will definitely return.

My family and I hiked at the park a few weeks ago. We didn't realize it closed so early (6pm) and only had an hour to enjoy it. It is a very nice park with wonderfully upkept trails. I rank this highly because of the safety you feel. I will definitely return here and do not feel insecure going alone or with my children. When we hiked it last, the lilies were not in bloom. I will be returning to see/photograph them. We did see a few snakes, birds, flowers, and butterflies on our last visit. We will definitely return.

Trails are being upgraded. Well maintained park. Very easy for stroller pushing. My 2 & 5 year old hiked easily from parking to overlook and back. (approx 1.5 miles)

Very nice nature trail with lots of wildlife - we spotted snakes, lizards, turtles and a bald eagle. Easy to walk trail with lots of spots to stop by the water and observe. My 5 year old stepdaughter loved it (and the playground at the park).

great park to walk with your dog - picnic areas right off of parking lot so bring some lunch. Head to the right either the canal trail or nature trail are very easy to walk. The lillies in bloom are gorgeous, worth the visit. There is an enterance fee to the park.

Nice park, kids loved it. Exit off I-77 at exit 77 just south of Carowinds Blvd. Head left then look for the signs. Interesting graveyard about a mile or so before the entrance to the park. Graves date back to the VERY early 1800's and a few late 1700's as well.

Very scenic as it runs along side of the catawba river. Due note however that the park closes @ 6pm and there is an entrance fee into the park.
