Summary: A nice canyon hike to a ridgeline with great views. The well used trail follows creeks through a variety of trees, meadows and open views. Several species of animals and birds may be seen. The junction to this trail is just past the cattle guard about 600 yards into the hike. This trail goes to the left from the main Cherry creek trail. This hike can also be made into several loop hikes with other canyons and trails in the area. Trailhead: From Downey, go SW on old hwy 191, 2.2 miles. At the bottowm of the hill, take a left turn to the south onto county road. Follow this road 8 miles. The trailhead is a continuation of the incoming road. There is parking for two or three vehicles before crossing the creek. Across the creek about 100 yards is a forest Service Campground with 3 or 4 spaces. Additional parking may be found on that side of creek.
