Summary: From the trailhead hike north along the paved trail. A few hundred yards along the trail the pavement will turn to dirt. Follow Crest Trail #130. A short distance along the trail a junction will appear. Take the right fork to the Nature Trail. At about 0.15 miles the trail will turn sharply left and descend a stairway. At the bottom overlook turn right and continue on the trail. At the half-way point you will cross Crest Trail #130. Continue ahead on the Nature Trail. This trail will continue south, then turn right and come to a T-junction. Take the trail left at the T to return to the start.
Trailhead: From I-25 take exit 234 - Tramway Road. Drive east 5.8 on Tramway Road to the Sandia Peak Tramway. From I-40 take exit 167 - Tramway Blvd. Drive north 9 miles on Tramway Blvd to the Sandia Peak Tramway. Ride the Tramway to the peak. The trailhead is at the north end of the Tramway platform.
