Summary: The Kingsley trail is an easy yet very enjoyable trail which will take you the Kingsley school house. The trail is hard packed gravel with no substansial elevation changes. This would be suitable for the whole family. It is approximatelt .6 miles each way. The trail ends near the school house which has a small picnic area and very cool swinging bridge over the nearby creek. From here you could continue your journey on one of several other trails that intersect this area. Built in 1893 in an area known locally as "Froggy Hollow", the Kingsley school house served the community until it closed in 1935, when the great depression forced families to leave the area to look for work. Of the late 19th century one room school houses still existing in Montgomery County, the Kingsley Schoolhouse is one of the few that remains in an entirely unaltered state. Trailhead: Take Route 270 To Clarksburg Road to Clarksburg. Stay On Clarksburg road for approximately 2 miles. Turn right onto Kingsley road which is primarily just a gravel paring area for the trail system The trailhead for the Kinsley trail is at the far end of the parking opposite Clarksburg road and is clearly marked. It is the only gravel trail head nearby. You may want to stop to take a look at the nearby park sign for more details regarding the trail system here. At far end is Kingsley Schoolhouse which, though pretty, is encased in an ugly barbed wire topped fence to prevent vandals. Swinging foot bridge by the schoolhouse is fun.
