Summary: From the parking lot for this hike follow the 2005 fire road 3.5 miles until it comes out at the Mary's Peak Road. Then take the East Ridge Trail to the junction with the Tie Trail (there will be a bench there). Stay left on the East Ridge Trail and follow it to the Mary's Peak parking lot. After admiring the view, continue west on the trail to the junction of the Tie Trail and the North Ridge Trail, again stay left and follow the trail down about 4 miles till it comes out just above the 2005 gate and the small parking lot.
Trailhead: From I-5 take Corvallis exit and follow HWY 20 through Philomath and follow to Newport. Approx 1.65 files out of Philomath, take a left onto Woods Creek Road which quickly turns into a gravel road. Follow it about 7.5 files to a dead-end gate and small parking lot. This hike can be done in either direction and you can do it in the winter, but you will encounter snow. (Lat:44.5308 Lon:-123.5439)
