Summary: This backpack trip offers many different experiences and I'll try to highlight these to coincide with the waypoints on the map. You will spend a few hours to arrange the car shuttle so the low mileage day will be day 1. At 1.7 mi you reach the side trail to Coon Den Falls and 2.6 mi R/T to falls. At 2.8 you reach White Rocks Mt and a spur trail leads to the tower for views. At 5.8 is the Moreland Gap Shelter if you choose to stay here or there is a campsite at 7.3 mi. Day 2 begins will easy ridge walking for about 6 mi until you reach Walnut Mt Rd. From here it will descend through wooded acreage until you reach US19E. Trailhead: Dennis Cove Trailhead: From junction of US19E at Hampton, head 0.8 mi E on US321/TN 67. Turn R onto USFS 50 (Dennis Cove RD) at Citizens Bank for 4.0 mi to USFS Dennis Cove parking on L. AT going south climbs road bank across from parking lot. US19E Trailhead: From junction of US19E and TN143 in Roan Mtn TN continue south on 19E for 3.9 mi to a small turnout on right. This is a car shuttle backpack. The hike is described as north to south.
