Summary: Excellent well maintained trail. This trail will take you through almost every type of landscape Illinois has to offer. It has everything from lowland creeks, timber, flood plains, strip mine lakes, and of course prairie. The area along the kickapoo creek has to be some of the best bird watching in the mornings that I have seen. A great hike alone or with the family. Make sure to visit the animal exhibits while you are here. There is a admission fee so please check the web site http://www.wildlifeprairiestatepark.org/ for latest pricing information and hours. Thanks. Trailhead: When you arrive at the park get a map from the park office. Find the old schoolhouse. The trailhead is right next to the old school house.
